I decided to move to Cincinnati with my best friend, after spending my whole life in California. We were returning to where his family lived, and planned to rent out an apartment. We packed everything I had in my name in my small Toyota yaris, and head out for the multiday journey.
This journey came to a startling halt on the midnight of August 28th/29th. Driving on the I-40, a long stretch of freeway populated by mostly late night semi trucks, passes through many miles of open field. Its pitch black and repetitive at night.
My small car had a side collision with a large semi, drivers side, going around 80-85 mph. I vividly recall hitting my head incredibly hard, and glass everywhere. All of my life's belongings sprayed across the freeway over hundreds of feet as I tried to gain control of the wheel. I'll never forget the sound of my roommate screaming and crying as I tried to keep us from rolling, and of my own.
The car is destroyed, but it gave its life for my own. Well placed airbags and luck preserved our lives. Me and Kaine both sustained injures, but are alive. Thank goodness he is okay.
However, the ripple effect is dire. I have no car, I have no belongings, and currently am just on the cusp of a deposit on my cincinatti apartment. I was also given ambulance transport and er medical treatment, only some of which is covered by insurance. I don't know if we can continue forward with the apartment, and itll be a month or so before my right wrist is usable.
I am the last person that would use a method like this. The goal would allow me to get an apartment, help me replace some belongings, help me get transportation to be able to make money with a job, and allow me to fund travel expenses, and help me with some of the incoming medical bills.
The goal is hopeful, but anything helps and im forever in your debt.
