Please be advised the video below is both a graphic and disturbing depiction of the reality of mental illness. https://youtu.be/LXOLbrHqg7c
Captain Cricket AKA Justin Harris was my son. He was the most charismatic, animated, enchanting, loving, intelligent, talented, articulate, and complicated individual I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. For 32 short years, I was blessed to call him my son. He, like many others, suffered terribly throughout the years from bipolar disorder. He tried conventional medications, but could not tolerate the vast side affects that came with them. Since the age of 18, Justin self medicated with just about anything he could find. He would bottom out, go to rehab and get clean for awhile.....then relapse. Lately, he had been doing great! Everything in his life was coming together! He had a wife and 2 stepdaughters he adored, was in line for a fantastic new position that included benefits and a huge pay increase at 93.5 The Beach....But in the early morning hours of Friday, June 28, 2019 the financial stresses of life pushed him into another relapse. He journeyed into his next life at 1:25AM. Justin was my only child and the absolute love of my life. He was his Pop's best bud and the twinkle in his Nana's life. His Aunt and Uncle were constants in his life and were always there for him, as were his two cousins. His wife lost her best friend and soulmate and the girls, 9 and 11, lost what both they and he considered to be their father.
Throughout his life, Justin has touched the hearts and souls of thousands thru his music which was his greatest passion in life. His latest song, The Color Blue, which was to be released this summer ( see teaser above) was made to bring awareness to the metal health and addiction crisis our country is facing. Captain Cricket's devastatingly premature departure has caused an immediate financial hardship for our family. Any donatation you can make in his honor to help defray these costs would be greatly appreciated. From the depths of our hearts, we thank you....
