Cappaghmore Cares - a fundraiser for the Tyrrell Family

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

We are reaching out to you with a heartfelt request to support our brave 15-year-old Cappaghmore resident, Sarah Tyrrell. Sarah has been diagnosed with aplastic anaemia, a rare and serious condition where her bone marrow fails to produce enough blood cells. Despite the challenges, Sarah has shown incredible strength, bravery and resilience throughout this whirlwind life-changing journey so far.

Paul and Sandra, Sarah’s parents, alongside her big sister Olivia and younger brother James, are all pulling together to get through this challenging time. They are very grateful for the support of their extended families and friends in their lives who have reached out and offered to help. They would also like to acknowledge the support of the staff of both Temple Street and Crumlin Hospital.

Sarah is a bright and cheerful girl who loves GAA football, and spending time with her friends and family. Sarah loves going to school in Coláiste Bríde, as well as attending her local youth club. Her positive spirit and determination have been an inspiration to all of us. However, her condition has made it difficult for her to enjoy the activities she loves.

After numerous tests and treatments, Sarah's doctors have determined that a bone marrow transplant is the required next step. Sarah’s brother James, whose bone marrow luckily matches Sarah’s, will be her donor. We have to acknowledge the immeasurable contribution of James to Sarah’s recovery.

This procedure is critical, but it comes with significant expenses and the need for ongoing care and support. Sarah's treatment plan involves going to Sheffield for a prolonged period of time. We would like to alleviate some of the financial pressure around this and support our friends and neighbour. After numerous hospital stays in Ireland, Sarah will be spending a further minimum three months full-time in the UK while she undergoes the necessary treatment. Medical treatment is covered by the HSE, but there are many other costs involved, including loss of earnings, travel and the cost of accommodation while caring for Sarah.

We are asking for your help to alleviate some of the financial hurdles ahead so that the Tyrrell Family can focus all their attention on getting Sarah well. Your generous donations will help with this greatly.

Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a huge difference in Sarah's journey to recovery. We are deeply grateful for your support and positive thoughts.

Thank you for being a part of Sarah's fight against aplastic anaemia.
