This year, Capoeira Guatambu will celebrate its first Batizado since its formation in 2021. Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art developed by enslaved Africans in Brazil that involves dance, sport, culture, music, and history.
The school was founded by Professor Gordhino and teaches the fundamentals of capoeira with a deep understanding and respect for its history and traditions. In capoeira, a Batizado is a graduation ceremony that recognizes the achievements of the capoeiristas and showcases Brazilian culture with dances and performances.
We are organizing a great in-person Batizado to give our students the celebration they deserve with special guests from Brazil, music, and dance performances. We are asking you to contribute to our fundraising goal of $6,000 to help make this Batizado a great success. Thanks for your donation!
