INTRODUCTION
My name is Dr. Steven Graff. I am an orthopedic surgeon who serves as founding member and President of a new nonprofit called Tikkun Mobile Healthcare.
The raison-d’etre of our organization is to deliver the service of pro bono procedural and surgical healthcare through the work of highly-qualified volunteer medical staff in a sophisticated free-standing mobile surgical facility. The targeted populations will be within the contiguous 48 United States and Alaska where financial and geographic/distance barriers exist that preclude community members from even seeking such medical care.
THE NEED
There is a healthcare crisis facing rural, disadvantaged America that is being exacerbated by the closing of regional hospitals and even further exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Some of these needs are being met by non-profits bringing care into communities using mobile facilities – dental, vision, disease detection, etc.
HOWEVER, as it relates to surgical services, no such mobile outreach program has been created in the US prior to Tikkun Mobile Healthcare. Many rural citizens need to travel hundreds of miles to receive surgical services. With limited time and financial resources to do so, many forego treatment altogether. Tikkun Mobile Healthcare, Inc. (TMHI), a registered 501(c)3, will address this void by bringing surgical services via a mobile surgical center directly into the communities.
Additional information about the scope of the health care crisis facing the communities we seek to help can be found in the following articles:

THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT
The amazing piece of equipment that is required to carry out our charitable mission is a self-contained mobile surgical suite housed within a 53-foot trailer.

A video which goes into more detail about the trailer can be found here:

Such sophistication comes with an understandably high price tag, $2.5M to be exact. And while it is our organization's goal to purchase this trailer one day, we understand that donors expect to see some proof that our mission is more than just a "line drawing" and that it is, in fact, achievable. Therefore, we are planning a proof-of-concept run. But to do such a run, we need to rent the trailer for 6-8 weeks (@ $150,000/mo), rent a truck to pull the trailer, purchase fuel for the truck and generator, purchase the insurances necessary for the trailer and staff, and supply food, lodging, and transportation for staff at the point(s) of care. It is for these costs that we seek the $500,000 fundraising goal.
If you resonate with the plight of the financially and geographically isolated communities that we seek to help, please donate! No amount is too small!
Thank you for taking the time to learn about Tikkun Mobile Healthcare and for any donation you may decide to make!
With Gratitude,
Steven Graff, MD
