Every Life Deserves a Second Chance — Help CapesWildlifeRescue Save Britain’s Wildlife

A tiny life. A second chance. A future that might never have been possible without you. Imagine finding a tiny hedgehog injured at the side of a road. A young bird fallen from its nest. A pigeon with a badly injured wing, unable to fly. Or a wild animal fighting to survive, frightened, vulnerable, and completely dependent on someone stopping to help. For these animals, the difference between life and death can come down to one thing: whether somewhere exists that can take them in.

At CapesWildlifeRescue, we want to be that somewhere. We are a small, independent wildlife hospital in North Lincolnshire, built on compassion, dedication and the belief that every animal deserves the opportunity to recover, regardless of how small, common or overlooked it might be. We don’t do this because it’s easy. We do it because these lives matter. And we need your help to keep giving them a chance.

More than a rescue. A lifeline for wildlife. CapesWildlifeRescue was built around a simple but powerful belief: that vulnerable wildlife deserves the same compassion, commitment and opportunity for recovery that we would want for any animal in need. We care for wildlife that has been injured, orphaned, displaced or found struggling to survive in an increasingly challenging world. From hedgehogs needing warmth and intensive nursing care, to injured birds requiring treatment and rehabilitation, every admission brings a new challenge, a new responsibility and a life that deserves our very best. Some arrive frightened. Some are critically unwell. Some are so small that they fit into the palm of a hand. And some arrive with the odds stacked against them. We cannot promise that every animal will survive. Wildlife rescue can be heartbreaking, and despite our best efforts, some animals are simply too badly injured or unwell to recover. But we can promise that every animal in our care will be treated with compassion, dignity and respect. Because even when we cannot change the outcome, we can make sure that no animal suffers without someone trying to help. ❤️

Built from the ground up, with a little help from a lot of hearts, CapesWildlifeRescue isn’t a large organisation with endless funding or vast resources behind it. We are an independent rescue, driven by people who give their time, energy and compassion to animals that cannot ask for help themselves.

Our work depends on a dedicated team of volunteers, our on-site veterinary team, donations and the generosity of people who believe that protecting wildlife is worth investing in.

We are developing our rescue site at Kirton in Lindsey into a place where wildlife can receive care, recover safely and, wherever possible, return to the wild. That means creating suitable accommodation, secure aviaries, specialist treatment areas, isolation facilities and the equipment needed to care for a wide range of species. It means preparing for emergencies before they happen. It means making sure that when the next injured bird, orphaned mammal or vulnerable hedgehog needs somewhere to go, we have the facilities and resources to help. Every improvement we make brings us one step closer to that vision. But building a wildlife rescue is about so much more than putting up enclosures. It takes food, medication, bedding, cleaning supplies, protective equipment, veterinary care and specialist equipment. It takes constant maintenance, careful biosecurity and countless hours of work behind the scenes. And it takes money, often far more than people realise.

The animals don’t have a voice. We want to be theirs. Wildlife cannot explain that it is in pain. It cannot tell us that it is hungry, frightened or struggling to breathe. It cannot donate towards its own treatment. It cannot fund its own recovery. It relies entirely on people being willing to help. That is why every donation, however small, matters to us. Your contribution could help provide the food that keeps an orphaned animal growing, the bedding that keeps a vulnerable hedgehog warm, the medical supplies needed to treat an injury, or the equipment that makes safe rehabilitation possible. Larger donations can help us develop our facilities and invest in equipment that will benefit countless animals in the future. And regular monthly support gives us something incredibly valuable: the ability to plan ahead, prepare for admissions and make our rescue more sustainable.

You might never meet the animal you help save. But that animal’s future could look very different because you chose to care.

Our vision: a rescue that can do even more. We don’t want CapesWildlifeRescue simply to survive from one emergency to the next. We want to build something lasting. We want to continue improving our standards, developing our volunteers and giving every animal the best possible opportunity to return to a life in the wild. We also want to help educate people about Britain’s wildlife, encouraging compassion, responsible intervention and a better understanding of the animals we share our world with. Our ambitions are big, but our purpose is simple. More lives helped. Better facilities. Safer recoveries. More animals returning to the wild. That is what we are working towards, one animal and one improvement at a time.

How your donation will make a difference:

Every donation to CapesWildlifeRescue helps support the practical, everyday work of caring for wildlife and developing our rescue. Funds raised through this page will contribute towards:
- Veterinary care and medical supplies — helping us provide appropriate treatment and nursing care.
-  Food and essential consumables — including specialist diets, formula, bedding, cleaning products and other daily necessities.
- Secure enclosures and rehabilitation facilities — creating safe environments for animals to recover.
- Specialist equipment — helping us improve the standard of care we can provide.
- Treatment, isolation and biosecurity facilities — supporting safer admissions and reducing the risk of disease transmission.
- Rescue site development and maintenance — helping us build a sustainable facility capable of supporting wildlife in the long term.

Our needs change with the seasons, the animals admitted and the challenges we face. Funds will be directed towards the most pressing needs of the rescue, helping us use donations where they can make the greatest difference. You don’t have to be there to be part of it.

Perhaps you have found an injured hedgehog and wished there was more you could do. Perhaps you love seeing wildlife in your garden. Perhaps you have watched a bird take flight and never stopped to think about how remarkable that simple moment is. Or perhaps you simply believe that a living creature should never be considered too small or insignificant to deserve help. Whatever brings you here, there is a place for you in our story. A one-off donation helps us meet today’s needs. A monthly donation helps us prepare for tomorrow. Sharing our fundraiser helps us reach people who may be able to support us in ways we cannot yet imagine. If you cannot donate, sharing this page is still a genuinely valuable way to help. Every person who supports us becomes part of something bigger than a single rescue admission. They become part of the effort to protect, rehabilitate and give Britain’s wildlife another chance. ️

Help us make the next second chance possible One day, we hope to look back at the early days of CapesWildlifeRescue and see how far a small rescue, supported by an extraordinary community, was able to go. We cannot do this alone. We need people who care. People who believe in what we are building. People who understand that protecting wildlife takes more than good intentions, it takes practical support, commitment and a community willing to stand behind the work. If you are able to donate, thank you. If you can support us monthly, thank you. And if all you can do is share our story, please know that it matters. From the smallest hedgehog to the most determined bird, every animal in our care has a story of its own. Help us give them the chance to finish that story in the wild.

Thank you for believing in CapesWildlifeRescue, for standing alongside us, and for helping us give vulnerable wildlife the second chance it deserves.

 With gratitude, CapesWildlifeRescue

Every life matters. Every second chance begins with someone who cares.
