We embarked on establishing CAPEbuilds (CAPE stands for Carolina Alliance for Playground Equity) a nonprofit organization with a noble vision: to transform the lives of children in lower-income and underserved communities through the power of play.

To pursue this mission, our team ventured into numerous parks and schools, uncovering a need for change in these playgrounds. The play areas needed to be mulched, had worn out equipment, lacked benches where children could engage in outdoor learning or rally behind their school teams.

When we met with several principals from Durham County schools, each one echoed the same pressing need for benches – a simple resource that could significantly enhance the experience of the kids. We sprang into action and have already made a tangible difference. To date, we have delivered a total of 12 benches (target: 72 benches), providing these schools with the means to create welcoming outdoor spaces for their students and communities.

However, our work is far from complete. We need your support.
