Cape Town—the city of potential

Hey guys, my name is Naftali Silver. Currently, my role in Cape Town is the Rabbi of a beautiful synagogue—one with rich history and incredible souls.

I am blessed to have been in Cape Town for almost 5 years. I came looking to teach Torah, understanding that the greatness of Torah study is what elevates our soul and corrects our middot, our character traits, making us honest, dedicated, and diligent in our work, to be a good friend and neighbor, to be one who knows how to contribute their talents to helping others, to love all, respect every honest and decent person, faithful to our Torah and tradition, observe and beautify Shabbat with a significant amount of Torah study, help the poor and the less fortunate…

However it is I who have been taught. It is I who has learned and gained more than I could imagine.

In my quest to quench my passion for Emet, for Truth, I found that within each and every person lies something so great, so powerful, that it is not a matter of me teaching anyone; but rather facilitating each and every individual to realize that they are of intrinsic value, and that they have so much Torah within them that THEY can teach and share.

It is for this reason that I come humbly before you, asking for your help and support, your kindness and your love. I find myself in a position where I must continue the journey I have before me. For pride’s sake, or for whatever reason I have shied away from asking for help, believing that I can do this, if I just keep pushing and stretching as much as I can.

The funds are to provide programming for children, teens, and young adults as well as the elderly. This includes learning, activities, and at times small financial assistance to those in need. These funds will be enough to last a year, bringing many young and older Jews of Cape Town together for growth, development, and Teffilah.

Whoever would like to see the results and updates of where the funds are going and what they will be put to, I will of course update everyone along the way.

My goal is to raise $30,000, with intention to use these funds as YOUR shliach, your messenger, to bring my soul along with others, out from under the hardships and numbness of our society.

Each dollar given, will be for your soul, in your merit. I am but a messenger, using the time I have to fulfill your desire to share your passion and love for The Almighty and his Torah, love for our people, our nation, our international community and for our land.
