My name is Camille and I am a third-year student at Loyalist College studying to become a Child and Youth Care Practitioner. This is my final year and I am 21 days away from finishing my final in-class semester. It's crazy for me to even say this but "I am going to miss school" as my program has taught me so much about how I can be a successful practitioner.
For my final semester, we have a block placement that is 12 weeks of amazing learning and in the field experience. My dream is to TRAVEL, however, I don't want to just travel. Many people these days see the amazing adventures people go on through the social media lens that captures what they want us to see, but in reality, there is another lens that I want to look through and hope to share it with the world.
The lens of a Child and Youth Care Practitioner! I want to not only help child and youth but their families. I want to make a difference!
My placement coordinator has been amazing as well as my deans and has been allowed me to do an 8-week block placement instead of a 12 placement in Cape Town, South Africa.
What I intend to do;
- Working with grandmothers who are against AIDs and Poverty in the community.
- Work in an emergency foster care home.
- Work hard at being present in my work and field as a CYC.
- Share my passions, dreams and goals with you.
- Thank YOU.
- Live by the words or some pretty amazing doers and write about it.
South Africa is just the beginning and I need your help...
I have saved up money for 8 weeks, however, my flight, visa and additional costs have gotten the best of me and I am reaching out to you AMAZING people asking for a financial donation. Even if you aren't able to donate, I understand (with all of my heart) and would love for you to share this page as well as check out my blog Still Good Project. I will be sharing with my life as it presents itself, in hopes that you become motivated, encouraged or just brights your day.
