Cape to Cape for Heather
Donation protected
Hi my name is Greg and together with my friends Scott, Kevin, Fiona, Damian and Deb we are walking the Cape to Cape (Cape Naturaliste to Cape Leeuwin in WA) which is 126 km. We start walking next week (27th April).
I have decided to dedicate my walk to Heather Hillier who is the daughter of an old work colleague of mine Laura, who reached out to me, and I thank her for doing so.
Heather was diagnosed at a young age with multiple chronic autoimmune- related illnesses including Primary Schlerosing Cholangitis which seriously impacts the liver. All of these autoimmune complications have had a serious impact on her daily life
In 2021 Heather underwent life-saving liver transplant surgery but complications have arisen and she is now suffering organ rejection which requires additional medication in order for her to keep her new liver. She is now dealing with medical trauma and mental health issues including panic attacks and PTSD and also has flare-ups from ulcerative colitis.
Unfortunately, Heather has fallen through the cracks in the welfare system as she does not fit any of the specific criteria.
Heather has always strived to be financially independent but until she is healthy she simply cannot work to support herself.
All funds collected will go directly to help Heather with life-saving medications, appointments with her team and other appointments important to her recovery including physiotherapy, as well as all the other costs associated with getting to these appointments.
I urge you to dig deep to support this fundraiser. Some of us are able to take our health for granted and others, like Heather, are not so lucky.
Thank you for reading - every little bit helps.
