Cape to Cape for Ella
Donation protected
Hi Everyone, for those of you that don't know me, Im Matt.
I have made it my yearly mission to complete the Cape to Cape to raise money for charity.
The Cape to Cape trail runs along the Leeuwin-Naturaliste Ridge from Cape Naturaliste to Cape Leeuwin in Western Australia. The total distance is 125km & is normally completed in 5-7 days.
In April 2023 myself & a few work colleagues raised $18,500 for mental health via the Black Dog institute by completing the Cape to Cape in 3 days.
On the 17th April 2024, myself & two close mates Sam Allan & Jackson Brown will be endeavouring to complete the Cape to Cape in a challenging two days to raise money for a very special little girl, Ella Lewis & a charity now very close to my heart, Foundstion for Prader-Willi Research UK .
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT BEAUTIFUL ELLA
On June 3rd 2020 Ella Lewis was born at 28 weeks by emergency C section and was admitted to university of South Wales neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
10 weeks on, Ella wasn't responding to early medical treatment and consultants wanted to investigate further. Ella’s parents Jon & Becky met with the genetic team to undergo tests which later determined Ella has an extremely rare genetic condition called Schaaf-Yang syndrome.
Schaaf-Yang syndrome affects muscle tone, feeding, development and intellect.
Ella spent her first six months in hospital, a total of 180 days. Her condition is one of the rarest in the world. Schaaf-Yang syndrome like many others is a large umbrella of gene mutations. At the time of her diagnosis Ella's gene mutation had only ever been seen 4 times before, that makes her around 1 in 1.5 billion.
Ella now three is still non-verbal, has never walked, crawled or sat for long periods of time unassisted.
Already in 2024 Jon, Becky & their amazing support network have raised a whopping $20,000+ in Ella’s name.
OUR MISSION
The Cape to Cape for Ella is just one of the many scheduled events in Ella’s name for 2024. Our target is to raise as much as possible but together we'd be immensely proud to raise $10,000 of which every penny will go to the charity.
We'd be immensely grateful for any donation you can spare to help us achieve our team goal. The money will go to a great cause and one which we are proud to represent.
Let's get stuck in and try to make the difference.
