Hello, my name is Canyon Hurst, a proud 11th quarter intern at Life West Chiropractic College.
Over the past two and a half years I have been building my chiropractic skill set and learning to make a positive difference in people's health and lives.
When I decided to become a chiropractor, my vision and purpose were clear and apparent: to serve. Today there are more people than ever who want to be in touch with their own bodies and discover where health and vitality truly stem from. My goal is to educate and guide as many people as I'm able, to the full potential of how great their lives really can be with optimum health.
I have been preparing for two major landmarks: first, my entry into the Health Center to begin working with my own patients and doctor mentors, and second, to be in service to those in great need through mission trips outside of the school.
In my time working in the clinic, along with the 78 classes I've completed so far, I feel prepared for the next landmark: Haiti. I chose this mission trip run by Dr. Peter Morgan (http://www.chiromissions.com/) for two main reasons: being there in service for as many people who need the care we can provide as possible, as well as to experience what it is like outside of the lifestyle we are blessed to have here in America. I want to further improve my art of performing chiropractic but also build upon the driving force and reason behind why I am joining this profession.
I will be departing on this mission trip June 23rd and arrive in Haiti. I will serve with an amazing group of chiropractors for 7 days at various locations. Each one of us will be able to see hundreds of people each day--so I feel our impact upon those communities will be tremendous with the 30-40 dedicated doctors and students on this trip.
I would like to share how these funds will be used..
Of the $2100 I hope to raise:
$980 - for flights there and back again
$900 - paid to the mission group for the facilitation and arrangements for transportation, food, water, and lodging during the trip
$220 - for food/snacks/water during the days spent in transit, travel fees within the country, and a few pieces of gear to take along.
Thank you for taking the time to understand what it is I'm going to do and why. Any contribution to my goal will be deeply appreciated! For me, this trip will be life enhancing, I believe I will benefit greatly through personal growth and seeing the many others in Haiti that will be touched by chiropractic. Thank you for taking part in my vision and investing in me as well as my profession.
With gratitude and appreciation,
Canyon Hurst
