Can't Afford To Be Sick in America
Donation protected
Hi, there. We wanted to give people an update. My mom has completed her second round of chemo, only 17 or so more to go. Her oncologist says that her prognosis is very good and she is doing a bit better than where we were at a even a month or so ago. However, my mother was forced to quit her job due to the cancer. She was just too sick to work. Because of this she lost 2/3 of her monthly income and is having a stressful and difficult time addressing her monthly expenses. Her social security is not enough to cover everything. She reached out to her previous employer to inquire about returning to her job once she is recovered and she is hopeful that they will allow her to return after 6 years of employment with them. So, all of this is temporary at least. However, the stress of bill collectors calling all the time, asking "when she can pay again", and not having enough for her necessities is not helping with her recovery at all. We are a tiny working class family, what you see in the picture is it. I do not have the means to support her the way I would like. That being said, I want to thank everyone who has donated. It has helped her significantly. We have a long way to go until recovery so I am asking again for any help anyone can offer. Cancer sucks and not having the means to even be sick and get better is a double punch to the gut. Thanks for your time and I wish you all the best.
