Help Save our Carnaby’s Black-Cockatoos: Join Our Mission!

Hi, my name is Sharon and I am deeply passionate about our magnificent Black-Cockatoos, in particular the Carnaby’s black-cockatoo , a species whose survival is threatened by habitat destruction. With the loss of suitable nesting trees, these iconic birds are struggling to find places to breed. This critical issue inspired me to launch the Cans for Carnaby’s initiative, where funds raised support the installation of artificial breeding hollows to provide safe spaces for these endangered birds.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community and the unwavering support of Dean at Carnaby’s Crusaders for installing our hollow I am thrilled to share that our first sponsored breeding hollow has already had its first baby Carnaby’s fledge! This is a monumental milestone for our project and proof that together, we are making a real difference.

But we’re not stopping here, two more sponsored breeding hollows are set to be installed soon, giving even more Carnaby’s black-cockatoos a safe space to nest.

In addition to nesting spaces, we are committed to addressing food shortages caused by habitat destruction. With fewer native trees and plants to provide food, these birds face the threat of starvation. Every contribution will go towards supporting conservation organizations dedicated to protecting and restoring their habitat.

While our Containers for Change code has been a fantastic way to raise funds through recyclable donations, many have expressed interest in contributing directly. That’s why we’re starting this GoFundMe campaign: to give those who prefer to make cash donations a chance to make an impact.

Together, we can ensure the Carnaby’s call continues to echo in our skies—not as a memory, but as a symbol of hope.
