Canopy Northwest Arkansas is working to support refugees who are resettling in our community. We believe that Northwest Arkansas, with its diverse community, rapid economic growth, and excellent educational institutions, is an ideal location for refugees seeking to build a new life. We are inviting our community to recognize our shared humanity by showing compassion and care for those seeking refuge in Northwest Arkansas. We seek to engage our community by connecting organizations, businesses, congregations, and individuals to all refugees in need of assistance.
In conjunction with Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Omni Center, Temple Shalom, and Compassion Fayetteville we are asking for your financial help in support of this compassionate effort.
Our team, known as the Refugee Settlement Team or RESET needs $2200 within the four weeks. As a co-sponsor with CANOPY for a refugee family, we agreed to share the burden of ensuring our community’s newest members feel welcome and equipped to build a new life here. This entails the following responsibilities:
1. Providing basic furnishings for the apartment
2. Providing initial groceries
3. Spending regular time with the family: helping them practice English, taking them to community events, being available to answer questions
4. Above all: being available, being intentional, being a friend
Accomplishing items 1 and 2 is where we need your help. If you can donate any or all of the $2200 needed to help establish these families in Northwest Arkansas, it would be greatly appreciated.
All donations will receive a tax-deductible letter.
