Canoe Down the Mississippi

My wife and I will be canoeing down the Mississippi River starting this May to raise money to end sex-trafficking in the United States. It will take us 2-3 months, and we will be camping along the river as we go. It's going to be awesome:)

We are partnering with W.A.R.
and could not be more excited about it! The following evening after I got off the phone with them they apologized for their short email because they spent the rest of the afternoon dealing with an emergency human trafficking case. Just goes to show they really are in the midst of it.

The statistics on sex-trafficking are appalling, with an estimated 400,000 individuals being affected by trafficking in the U.S. alone each year (300,000 of those being children). The Twin Cities were even listed as one of the nations 13 largest centers for child prostitution. Another risk in the U.S. is the chances of being re-trafficked after the initial intervention. This means that counseling, shelter, job training and so on are extremely important in providing healing and ensuring safety for these victims.

Again, we could not be more happy to be partnering with W.A.R.

They are an incredible organization doing extraordinary things to fight this atrocity, and they know how to best utilize this money. $10,000 supports 30 women for just over 3 months in their U.S. Training Center, providing sex-trafficking victims with everything they need. They also partner with law-enforcement to rescue women and honestly you should just check out their website.

One of my favorite organizations (really it feels like a family), that is also doing incredible things to fight injustice in the world is Venture. Their motto is "We do tough things for people in tough places". So that's what Sarah and I are going to do. We will be sacrificing our money, time, and physical strength/endurance, and we are inviting you to sacrifice your money to help end this.

If you would like to follow our trip as we go, that would be awesome, and you can do so at:

Please keep the prayers coming!

-Keanu and Sarah
