I do want to start by saying thank you for sharing, donations and taking the time out of your busy life to read our story.
My whole life I've never really needed to ask for help from anyone or the government.....
Now the time that My family actually needs help from the government we aren't approved. We got denied for food stamps and cash assistance.. but luckily We got approved for AHCCCS starting march 1st.
The problem is my twin boys were born February 26th and all those medical bills are our responsibility because access will not cover them for the month of February. This is because I was working in February. But then went into unexpected Preterm labor. The twins were born 2 months earlier than expected.
So the government denied us access because we were (barely) over income...
This means the medical expenses are on us to pay back.
2 deliveries, 2 emergency helicopter flights, 2 babies being taken care of in the Neonatal intensive care unit.
We were able to get the twins covered under my Obamacare policy. These bills will take us a very long time to pay off. Which as you all know, if you have had children makes life pretty stressful. Now the only income we have is my husband. I unfortunately cannot return to work because we would lose the twins AHCCCS. Plus daycare is too expensive to afford for twins on top of health insurance for everyone in the family.
It makes me so sad how our government doesn't help those in the middle class.
Anyways, Now I am a stay at home mom, and we qualify for the twins to have AHCCCS (which I thank the lord for that) otherwise I don't know how we would be getting the medical care that my twin boys need.
So Here's the rest of the story.
Cannon and Braxton Moreno were born on February 26, 2017. They came two months too soon.
We were definitely not prepared for this.
Mentally or financially. The day they were born they were flown to the closest nicu (2hours away from home) Cannon was born weighing 4 lbs 2 oz. Braxton was born weighing 3 lbs 10 oz.
They both could not breathe on their own. They both needed to be fed thru feeding tubes. They both had jaundice, and had to be in incubators to maintain their body temperature. They were expected to be in the hospital 2 months which was until their original due date of April 26th.
(We spent 54 days in the NICU)
Cannon was born with a multi cystic kidney so only one kidney actually functions. This means we have to go down to the valley often (which is three hours away from home) to take Cannon to a urologist.
This is something we have to monitor for the rest of his life. This entire experience was so scary and stressful as I'm sure you can all imagine and the last thing we wanted to stress about was money.
So this is the reason we have asked for your help.
We truly are grateful and Thank god for friends and family that have helped so far. They helped relive some of the financial burden while we were in the hospital for 8 weeks.
The NICU was 2 hours from home, So I stayed there with my boys until they got released. This means I ate 3 meals daily at the cafeteria, almost every single day. I was traveling from hotels, staying with a cousin, and waiting for The Taylor House to become available. (The Taylor House was like Ronald McDonald housing) and it was unavailable for a month a half. So I finally got to stay there the last 2 weeks.
Anyone that has been in this sort of situation knows how stressful and hard it is. It is something you never wish anyone to experience.
So We are reaching out for help because we are unable to manage our monthly expenses and unexpected medical bills. As well all the other necessary items for babies.
Even If you're not able to donate we appreciate prayers and positive vibes sent our way. Also if you can please share our story so others can be aware of how corrupt our welfare system is.
