Dec 13, 5 AM, easily one of the worst days of my life, Ezra had a seizure, became unresponsive, while recently diagnosed with ITP. Having background in nursing, of course, my mind was going to the worst scenario possible. We rushed him to ER, and in triage, his gums were bone white, they took him from us and called a code immediately. The vet did not give us a good prognosis, his PCV was only 18% (normal range: 35 - 50%) and platelet was 4k (normal range 150 - 400k). He started having trouble breathing. The vet offered euthanasia. I fought hard against it, every cell in my body willing him to be able to fight it, and good thing my little brother was late, because my family ultimately agreed for us to try. He was started on blood transfusions.
He improved a little and became more alert and responsive through the night with a PCV of 20%, but still very tired. This morning his PCV went back down to 18% again but his platelet is 8k. I know he just needs help to fight this part and get through it. He just needs time and a chance. My family loves him so much, and we just want to love him for much, much longer.

All funds will go to his medical treatments, and future treatments. Please, I just miss his little barks, then his immediate excitement when he realizes it's me. There's nothing like coming home to your puppy.
Background:
Ezra "The Destroyer of Worlds" Artienda, yes that's his full name. If you've ever met Ezra, you know that he is the sweetest, most gentle, loving, best cuddler, bellyrub loving puppy in the world... which he destroys lmao
He was adopted from Pasadena Humane Society on April 2019, and has since melted everyone in my circle of family and friends. A true ladies' man, but a gentleman first.
Early Oct, he started having black tarry stools. He was seen at the vet clinic and blood work was unremarkable. We thought he may have just ate something that caused GI irritation and it would be transient. Two weeks ago, he started having bruising in his stomach and lethargy, but still playing. We thought he was having allergies to a new bed we got him (he's a spoiled one, really). He was brought to urgent care last week again because of bloody stool and bleeding gums, and his macrocytes were through the roof and platelets were 7k (normal range is 150 - 400k).
He was recommended to go to ER immediately. He was started on vincristine, prednisone, and doxycycline to stop the inflammatory cascade. These are very strong medications which really knocked the spunk out of him. He improved a little, was sent home to continue treatment at home where he celebrated his 2nd birthday, and my older brother too. We thought he was just tired from the side effects of the chemo drugs, and let him rest but yesterday morning he had a seizure, and sent to ER again. See above for current.
