Hi, my name is Maria Stevens (Johnson), and I am raising funds, as well as donations of goods and services for my family's displacement from Hurricane Ian. It is beyond devastating to see the catastrophic destruction to my hometown of Cape Coral/Fort Myers, a town that I grew up in, and all of my friends and family that I love having to suffer through it.
My sister's family, the Caneys (Renee, Michael, Bryson, & Tyson), are having to start their life over from ground zero. They are having to rebuild their home in Fort Myers Beach, their beach restaurant, the vacation rentals they help manage there and replace their personal and work vehicles. It is going to be a long recovery. If you know Renee and Mike personally, they are the strongest fighters on our planet, despite all of the heartbreak and hardships they have encountered before this. And more so, they have the largest hearts of anyone I have ever known.
They have been graciously afforded to stay in a residence out in the Gateway subdivision of Fort Myers for the time being. They are in need of anything from food, diapers (size 6), baby wipes, child and adult toiletries, boys' toddler shoes (size 8 and 9), funds for healthcare/prescriptions, funds for gas and any assistance you can provide in helping them locate replacement vehicles (i.e. work truck) to buy. If you have any material donations rather than funding to contribute, please contact me directly. I am in the Brevard County area and can also organize collection through Orange/Osceola County, as well as coordinate collection in Lee County come soon. (All funds will be directly dispersed to the Caney family through the GoFundMe account.)
Thank you to everyone who has checked in, offered help, and opened their doors to my family. We cannot thank you enough.
