Hello friends! Those of you who know me know I come with a furry companion, my doghter Canela. I’ve had her since she was 3 months old, and if I can take her with me, I will. And if I can’t hang out, it’s usually because I need to go home or she’ll get lonely, lol. Truthfully, she’s more popular than me and often the first thing people ask me about if she’s not physically there to get scratches and belly rubs by them.
To my sad surprise, Tuesday morning she experienced an unexpected and rapid decline in her mobility, going from a limp to full on immobility in three of her legs in a span of 20 minutes. We were told she might be developing early arthritis, but this rapid decline was a shock to say the least. We rushed her to emergency, but without an expensive mri, the educated guess has been either a disc issue or miloypothy (some neurological issue from what I’m told).
Unfortunately, the best course of action would be a surgery, but we would need an mri for confirmation and paying for all of that is sadly too out of reach. Thankfully, there’s been hope!!! We’ve started going to a vet who does acupuncture and laser therapy! It’s a bit more cost effective and even though the journey is going to be a lot longer than I expected, Canela is only 6 years old today (June 8), and ready to fight and work back to running around on the beach and Pokémon hunting with me!
For me as her owner and mom, I want to do everything I possibly can. While I pride myself on working hard and getting things done with a good attitude, I can’t put her on my taxes as a dependent and I need my community’s help. I’m starting to feel the physical responsibility dead lifting a 65lb thicc queen, as well as starting to feel the financial responsibility as a “single mom”. With all the costs of X-rays, tests, medications, and treatments, I’m trying not to burden our own family too much with this as well. I trust God and know he’s surrounded me and Canela with wonderful people. Honestly, while a dollar would be helpful, even more prayer and positive thoughts would mean the world to me personally right now. Doing this on my own, with my family’s support of course, is tougher than I expected and kind words help me more than people might think. ❤️
Or if you just want to wish her a happy birthday, I’ll pass that along to her! Haha!
Thank you for taking time out of your own life and checking out her story ❤️ We welcome all the positive vibes and I personally want to thank everyone for showering us with love during this time. God is good, may He bless you and those you love for your kindness!
