Solas do Pháistí Gaza - Light for Children of Gaza

ON WEDNESDAY 1 MAY 2024, at 9.30 p.m. just after sunset, 'Gaeil ar son Gaza' are asking people all over Ireland to light a candle in memory of every child that has been killed by Israel in Gaza. That figure stands at more than 14,000 and is rising daily while thousands more are missing, presumed dead under the rubble. An estimated 30,000 children have been wounded and 17,000 orphaned. Due to Israel's embargo on food aid and water, the World Health Organisation has said that 1 in 3 children under the age of 2 in Gaza is now malnourished and we are seeing horrific images of their wasted bodies.
To pledge in advance that you will light a candle, we are asking for any donation you can afford (€5 has been suggested, but we are happy to accept less or more). All money collected will go directly to Palestine Children's Relief Fund, an organisation based in Palestine.
On May 1st, whether you light your candle at home with family, or meet up at your local playground (which many are planning to do as a symbolic gesture), take a photograph or short video and post it on your own social media. Then share with us on our accounts, as follows:

Who are we? Gaeil ar son Gaza is a voluntary group based in the Déise Gaeltacht, County Waterford.
