It’s hard to put into words, but I’m beginning to plan a memorial for my mom, Candie Broxson. Back in July, she went into the hospital for open-heart surgery — a difficult but hopeful step toward healing. We believed she’d have more time to live the vibrant life she so deeply deserved.

For over three months, she fought with everything she had. I never left her side, holding on to hope through every long day and sleepless night. In the end, despite all our efforts and prayers, her body grew tired, and she passed away.

My mom had the biggest heart — full of love, laughter, and light. She gave endlessly to others and left an imprint on every life she touched. Though she’s gone, her love is still here — in every kindness, every smile, every moment shared in her memory.

Her long fight left behind significant medical and personal costs, and it’s been hard finding the strength to piece life back together while planning her farewell.
