Candices Overseas Accident-Medical Expenses Fund

She has been living/working there for the last couple years. It is with great worry, panic & sadness that I write this because it feels like some of our family's worst fears have happened. On Thursday, June 6th she was in an extreme motorbike accident. At this time we are not 100% sure why but during her ride home she passed out and she hit a tree. The doctors are doing testing & CT Scans that may hopefully explain that further in the coming days. Thank God for the friends, who are like family to her, that are there in Thailand. We have been informed that Candice suffered a severe concussion, broken collarbone, broken/fractured facial bones, facial/lip lacerations requiring stitches at some sites & extreme bruising/swelling/cuts to the rest of her body. Although her injuries are serious I am so thankful & relieved that her accident wasn't any worse than it was.
She will require surgery due to her injuries & there are a couple options for hospitals there that will perform the surgery. One of the options for hospitals would cost $42,000 cdn. The other hospital option would be mostly covered through her medical insurance but there may not be a specialist there to perform the surgery in time. We have been told that her recovery time will be 4+ weeks.
Unfortunately because Candice has been living abroad for the last couple years she would not be eligible for BC Pharmacare for 3 months if she chose to return home. The thought of my sister having to spend any time in her present condition without one of her family members breaks my heart. My hope is that she will be able to have her surgery done at the government hospital where most of the medical bills would be covered. Regardless...I am hoping & praying that I can raise a bit of money so I will be able to travel to Thailand & assist her in her recovery & take care of her there. She is going to require extensive help once released from hospital & although she has some amazing friends there I feel that I need to be there with her. She has made a life for herself over there and I miss her extremely everyday.
With her having an accident while she is a world away leaves a person feeling so powerless, helpless & worried. I'd like to ask anyone who reads this to please ...take a moment to tell the ones you love just how much you love them. Next time you hug them...hug a little tighter & always....always believe in the power of positivity. Please send some healing, healthy, positive energies out into the universe for my sister & the ones you love & hold close to your heart. Thank you for taking the time to read this campaign. I will be posting updates on Candices condition, progress etc as I get them. Lisa C
