My name is Candice Harry & I am a young woman with a passion, desire, and vision to be all that I was purposed to be. I have been in the hair industry for the past 17 years. I became aware of my passion at a very tender age. My love for hair styling began with my mom, and my favorite uncle.
My mom was one of my biggest supporters, as she supported me in everything that I did. Her physical support was soon short lived as she passed away when I was 11 years old.
There have been many discouragers along the way. Those speaking words of down cast, constantly telling me that I was making a lazy choice and that there was no hope in being a hair stylist. I heard the voices, but I did not listen. My love for doing hair never faded.
After attempting college to fit in, I made the decision to enroll into Empire Beauty School, where I completed my 1000 hrs. During my enrollment at Empire, I was the go too girl. I could have styled anyones hair! On salon day, even my teacher Mrs. Elvis from Albania, used make sure she scheduled her appointment to get her shampoo & blow out done by me.
Three years later, I became a licensed Cosmetologist. I became a success. My clients often referred to me as the “Transformer”. Making this choice for myself gave me great joy and a sense of purpose. I live for seeing the transformations, getting to know my clients, and being able to inspire self worth & confidence.
Unfortunately 2 years ago, I was in a terrible car accident, which left me without work for approximately 2 years. Due to my inability to provide loss of wages, I walked away with barely anything to even mention. With my many losses, I still had hope. A few of my clients refused to go else where, so they would come to my home, and have me still attend to their hair. Such gestures were blessings that showed me that I was on the right track towards fulfilling my destiny.
As of now, I am healed! I am ready to branch out into my own, to fulfill the complete dream. I am currently in the process of relocating back home, the beautiful island of Trinidad, to open my very own salon "House of Kathy" in honor of my mother, Kathleen.
Financially it has really been a strain. I have exhausted all of my funds in the process, so I have decided to put pride aside and seek out help.
I hope that while reading, you can hear my heart within my few words, and believe in my dream as I do. I will be humbly grateful for any contribution to help me on my onward journey to not only transform hair, but lives.
