Hi, my name is Alisha Kostick I have created this gofund me for a very close friend.

Candice is a mom of 2, a wife and registered nurse. She has a big heart for animals and helping others. She is a very hardworking, dedicated nurse but a couple weeks ago things quickly changed.

Candice started noticing chest tightness, shortness of breath and irregular heartbeats with minimal activity. Her symptoms progressively got worse until it became difficult for her to shower and get dressed without losing her breath and feeling panicked.

She was admitted to the hospital for 2 nights. Several tests were ran and several doctors spoke with her. She was diagnosed with severe pectus deformity. Basically, her sternum is pressing against her heart causing it not to function properly.

She met with a surgeon at Grandview in Birmingham, AL. last week and was scheduled for surgery, which will be January 3.

Candice has been off work for 3 weeks due to this condition. She is expected to be in the hospital for a week after surgery and will continue to recover at home for 2-3 months.
