Hi, my name is Candela Moreno, and I’m starting this fundraiser for my dad, Santos.

A few weeks ago, our lives changed completely.

My dad had been feeling tired for a while—getting winded just walking up the stairs or lifting things at work—but he kept brushing it off. He’s always been the type to put everyone else first and power through anything. Then, one day he collapsed. After several tests and hospital visits, we got the diagnosis: dilated cardiomyopathy, a serious heart condition that makes it harder for the heart to pump blood to the rest of the body.

The doctors told us he’ll need surgery, regular treatment, and possibly a heart transplant in the near future. Without it, the risks are extremely high. I’m scared. He’s all I have.

My dad has worked his whole life to take care of my brother and I and give us the best future possible.

But now, he’s the one who needs help.

Unfortunately, the cost of his treatment is overwhelming. Even with insurance, we’re facing around $9k in medical bills, prescriptions, recovery care, and follow-up appointments. My dad sold his car, picked up every extra shift he could, and we’ve even taken out loans but we still haven’t gathered what we need.

That’s why I’m reaching out.
