In Memory of Cindy Clevenger

Donation protected
Cynthia Louise Clevenger (Cindy), age 63, of Roan Mountain, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord peacefully at her residence surrounded by her husband, her family and her friends on Monday, July 31, 2023. Cindy was born in Front Royal, Virginia to the late Jack and Shirley Street. In addition to her parents, Cindy was also preceded in death by her sister, Debbie Whicker; a nephew, Chad Hicks; and her close friend, Sarah Pritchard.

Cindy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and the best sister ever! She was never afraid to sacrifice for her family. She was a friend to all and always had a smile on her face. Cindy was a family woman through and through. Cindy was a gentle and kind spirit and America’s best cook! She was a member of the Church of Christ and she enjoyed gardening, canning, riding her motorcycle and dune buggy with her husband, David; but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking and taking care of her family.

Those left to cherish Cindy’s memory include her husband, David Clevenger of the home; her daughter, Misty Clevenger of Roan Mountain; her son, Steve Clevenger and wife Amy of Lynchburg, Virginia; her grandchildren, Isaac Clevenger, Leeland Pritchard, and Ryland Pritchard; her sisters: Sharon Street and husband Buddy and Esther Reed and husband John all of Roan Mountain; her brothers: Kenny Street, Rodney Street and Ricky Street all of Roan Mountain; her nieces and nephews: Nikki Skinner of Piney Flats, William Street of Roan Mountain, Robert Street of Roan Mountain and Kelsey Reed of Roan Mountain; and several great nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to celebrate Cindy’s life will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 5, 2023 in the Rhododendron Chapel at Tetrick of Roan Mountain with Mr. Bill Haywood, minister officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel prior to the service on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made toward Cindy’s final expenses.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Cindy’s closest friends who have been there through this difficult time and to Amedysis Hospice and Home Health for their loving care and support.

Tetrick Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Cynthia Louise Clevenger.

APRIL 27, 2023

#CancerStrong4Cindy: In February of 2023, Cindy Clevenger was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer with brain, lung, and bone involvement. She had a short series of radiation treatments which were focused on her brain and hip, followed by her first chemotherapy treatment in March which caused multiple adverse side effects and complications, leading to a prolonged hospitalization. In April she was transferred to a skilled nursing facility for continued medical support and antibiotic treatment as well as inpatient rehabilitation and strengthening. She continues to fight an elevated white blood cell count of unknown origin and decreased circulation to her lower extremities as well as multiple other health issues that doctors are struggling to treat.

Due to the extremely aggressive nature of the metastatic cancer, which has attacked her hip bones and caused multiple inoperable hairline fractures, Cindy is currently unable to walk and has to rely on a wheelchair for ambulation. She has been undergoing physical therapy, trying to build her upper body strength to be able to transfer easier. David, her devoted husband of 44 years, has been working tirelessly over the past few weeks with the help of some amazing friends to build a wheelchair ramp, begin renovating their bathroom, and make other necessary changes to their home so that Cindy may be able to safely and comfortably come home as soon as she is medically stable.

If you know Cindy personally, you are already aware of the blessing that she is to all those around her! She is a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend who has selflessly given of herself time and time again. It's our turn to step up now, in her time of need, and care for her the way she has cared so often for others. Friends and family, we earnestly covet your prayers and humbly solicit your financial assistance: We can't do this without your help! The family is already struggling, especially since dealing with the unexpected passing of Cindy's mother Shirley in March due to a heart attack, as well as the passing of Cindy's younger sister Debbie just last week after her own 2-year battle with metastatic stage 4 breast cancer.

All funds raised will go directly towards covering Cindy's expenses... your contributions will help to give her financial peace of mind so she can focus all her efforts on her recovery! Our current specific financial goals are to be able to complete the needed renovations at her home as well as to purchase an electric wheelchair for ease of mobility, as well as various other medical expenses.

On behalf of Cindy and the Clevenger family, THANK YOU! No amount is too small, and every dollar will help. While it is extremely humbling to use a format such as this to ask for help, we know that by putting it in God's hands He will providentially provide the help we need through His people. We are stronger together... we will not stop fighting for her and beside her. #CancerStrong4Cindy
