Cancers A Bench Deadlift Challenge 05.11.22
I’m Martin and as some of you know I was diagnosed with testicular cancer in May this year.
When In hospital I was donated a testicular cancer chemotherapy pack from Dash Of Silver and at the time this meant the absolute world to me. It contained all the essentials and more to make my chemotherapy treatment as comfortable as possible.
These packs cost money so any money I can raise to help to continue to provide these amazing packs to newly diagnosed patients in the future will be very much appreciated.
Myself and a friend, Jordon Ben are completing a deadlift challenge. This challenge is to generate as much awareness as possible to all those who fall within the vulnerable age rages of 15-35 and to make them aware of how to check, when to check and who to go to for support.
We will be deadlifting for the number of cases diagnosed each year which is 2354.
Between us this will equate to 1177 deadlifts undertaken. We will be completing this challenge by deadlifting our body weight (80kg) every minute on the minute (EMOM).
The total duration to complete all deadlifts will be 19 hours and 37 minutes. We then aim to complete a split 65 minute cardio session on a treadmill and an exercise bike to honour and pay our respects to all those who lose their lives each year from testicular cancer.
If we could raise just £1 for each deadlift and for every minute we run/ cycle this would give us a total of £2419 (our aim). This money could provide many more chemotherapy packs to all newly diagnosed patients.
The charity have given me valuable information, time and support and I hope that you'll consider contributing as a way of thanking them with me and Jordan.
I've included information about Dash Of Silver below.
The Charity is named after its Founder, Dan Silver whom bravely battled Testicular Cancer back in 2009. They are a Male Cancer awareness charity that is based here in Plymouth Devon.
They aim to help young men through their testicular cancer journey, diagnosis, treatment and after care along with mental health support. They also work very hard to make young men more aware of the illness.
Every little bit will help them to continue to be able to do this. Thank you for your donations
