Hi All,
If you know me, you know Kaia is everything to me. She recently had a cyst removed – deemed harmless and optional to remove by more than one vet. It was clearly making her uncomfortable and she was chewing at it so we opted to have it removed as it was getting infected. To everyone’s surprise, the biopsy came back and the “cyst” was cancerous.
Since then, we’ve had a consultation with an oncologist. Their primary concerns are that it is high grade and duplicating fast and they don’t believe all of it was removed with her first surgery. She has another lump on her back, towards her tail. We’ll have to do a ton of tests to be sure it hasn’t spread, another surgery to remove the second lump and the rest of the tissue around the first and then she will need chemo for approximately 6 months following with frequent testing throughout (x-rays, bloodwork, etc.). All of this is estimated to cost approx. $8,000 or more.
I’m living paycheck to paycheck as an assistant. Any savings I had went into her last surgery. If you’ve ever met her you know she is special. She’s a beautiful, pure soul and she deserves to get the treatment she needs. Kaia is turning 7 this month. She’s young and has a lot of life to live so please consider donating to her treatment.
I’ve been lucky enough to have Kaia since she was a puppy. She’s been with me through high school, college and now. At the peak of my anxiety, she officially became my emotional support dog and came with me to Syracuse. She’s been on road trips from New York to California and back twice. She has been with me through the most transitional periods of my life and has remained my constant, with me always through it all. As I first stated, if you know me, you know she is everything to me so please help me give her what she needs to keep going.
