Cancer vaccine for Dottie

Hi, my name is Stephanie Desmond and if you know me, you definitely know my little sister Lauren (and our obsession with our dogs). I am reaching out to fundraise for a Cancer vaccine for my sister's dog Dottie. Lauren and her husband Jeff do not know that I am starting this fundraiser and they are blocked from this post.

Lauren rescued Dottie from the streets of Arkansas in college and then lived with our parents in Southampton before moving to Rhode Island. They have given her the best life and Dottie has always been Lauren's home. While Dottie definitely looks like a princess, she is certainly a tough cookie with a spunky personality!

A few weeks ago they discovered a tumor dangling inside Dottie's cheek. The Big River Veterinary Services in Rhode Island successfully removed it, but the biopsy unexpectedly came back cancerous. The last several weeks navigating appointments and waiting for answers have been devastating.

Amelanotic melanoma cancer is extremely aggressive, but despite all odds, the cancer miraculously did not spread. Dottie must have secretly known because she had a smile on her face the whole car ride home (pictured here!).

Dottie is still healthy and happy, but without treatment the cancer will return. We are beyond grateful that a vaccination without radiation is available to prevent spreading. The cost of the vaccine is $4,000 and all profits from this fundraiser will go directly to Lauren and Jeff to help with the financial burden of these vet bills.

Dottie's happy place is in Lauren (and Jeff's ) arms, and we are hoping to keep her there much longer. My sister has the kindest, most empathetic soul, and so much love for animals- I am hoping to bring her some well-deserved joy with your support.
