My name is Teresa Benitez. I am humbly asking for any help possible for cancer treatment for my father, Jaime Benitez.
My father was diagnosed with prostate cancer in early 2024. His prostate was removed, and he seemed to be in the clear.
However, his cancer returned this year (2025). His PSA is steadily increasing, and a PSMA scan showed a lesion on a rib, making it a possibility that he has stage 4 metastatic cancer.
My father’s doctors recommended Orgovyx treatment for 6 months to begin with. One of his doctors said 24 months or possibly forever, however long forever may be. My father will also need about 35 radiation treatments to his prostate bed, and later, if needed, SBRT to his rib(s). He will also need to continue getting blood tests and scans.
My father never asks for anything. Ever. He always gives and gives and gives. My parents are both humble, hardworking people who care full-time for my autistic, bedridden 43-year-old brother. With my father’s treatments, he will not be able to work as an adjunct, and their income is limited overall.
He will probably get mad at me for asking others for help. I will deal with that. I have been doing odd jobs trying to help them—DoorDash, going to food pantries. I took him to Moffitt and will do anything else for him that I can.
If you can help us in any way, I will be forever grateful. If you cannot help, but you would like to leave a message for my dad, please contact me. My dad is a beautiful person who has touched so many people's lives, and I don’t know what I would do without him.
