Cancer treatments for Lauren's (Mari) mother

Hello family and friends,

Most of you know me by LL Shelton or Angel and follow me on Facebook. I’m writing this on behalf of one of our own in our community. Many of you know her as an Arc/Alpha/Beta reader in the Sapphic Literature community. Her name is Lauren Lewis Stark (Mari Hidalgo). She is asking for help for her mother, Maricela Montano. Please keep reading and allow us to tell her story.

Mrs. Montaño was diagnosed with cancer in her right breast in 2006. She had the breast removed and underwent multiple rounds of chemotherapy for the next two years. She was in remission between 2008-2012, but in 2012 her cancer had metastasized to her bones. She faced more chemo on and off for nine years. The medicine slowed the cancer progression, but she got the devasting news it had spread between her lungs, including her sternum, in 2021. The doctors have told her that the cancer isn’t responding as they want with chemotherapy. The news was a punch in the gut to a family that had fought hard for the last fifteen years against the disease.

So why is Lauren asking for your help? See, health care in her country (Mexico) is free, but with the current doctor’s medicine not working, Mrs. Montaño reached out to a private doctor, which is not free and very expensive. The new doctor will inject white blood cells into her body to build an immune system destroyed by chemotherapy. Mrs. Montaño will go through rounds of new homeopathic medicine proven to help patients with cancer.

Unfortunately, the treatment will be for a year, costing 15,000 dollars, 1,250 dollars a month. So today, we ask for any help you can spare for the cost. One hundred percent of the money raised will go toward Mrs. Montano’s health care.

Times are tough for all, but the smallest amount will go a long way and prepare Mrs. Montaño for battle.
