Many of you may or may not have met my mum, Christine Scurry. She has a bubbly, loving, caring personality dedicating the best of herself to others and never asking for anything in return. She is a mother of seven children, grandmother of fifteen, and wife to her husband who is living on a pension. Ten years ago, the family was devastated to learn that Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. Mum bravely endured early treatments including an invasive operation, chemotherapy and radiation therapies which had promising results to begin but a significant impact on her quality of life. Mum never relented on her will to remain positive in her life.

Mum's fight right now is battling mastitis breast cancer, that is stage four and non-curable. The cancer has also spread to her spine, sternum, ribs, hips and into the bones. The oncologists have also now diagnosed a tumour on the Kidney and found a cancerous fluid that has filled up one of her lungs.

And so here is what she needs some financial help with.

The expense of Mum's upcoming treatments are now significant, not covered by medicare/welfare, and overwhelming for her and the family to meet. She is unable to work due to her health condition and her husband is on a pension. The struggle without any financial assistance will continue to leave her spending most of her days with long hours in bed, trying to overcome the fatigue from shortness of breath and continual pain. The stress of uncertainty to receive these treatments also impacts her condition.

Mum has been hesitant about presenting her story as she persists in her positive outlook and desire to be autonomous in handling her situations as they arise.

As an outcome of the therapies, Mum and her family look forward to her returning to a better quality of life and sharing in the moments that will never be the same without her. She wants to enjoy seeing her grandchildren and the birth of more grandchildren, holding them, imparting her love to them and watching what they do with their lives.
