Cancer Treatment Support for Ruth Lewis
Donation protected
Family and friends,
Some of you may have heard Ruth is facing some serious health challenges.
After being diagnosed with stage I colon cancer at the beginning of April, doctors were able to remove all cancerous polyps, and thankfully, no further treatment was needed. However, further lab work showed high cancer markers, leading to additional tests and procedures. Ruth has since been diagnosed with stage I ovarian cancer. While these two cancers are unrelated, doctors have told Ruth that this is a positive aspect of her diagnosis. Most importantly, we are grateful that both were detected early.
Next week, Ruth will undergo surgery to remove one ovary and the cancerous tumor inside it. If everything goes as planned, she will not need chemotherapy.
The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of doctor’s appointments, tests, procedures, and difficult decisions. Ruth's surgery has been postponed several times due to a persistent strep throat infection, and resistance to antibiotics,
but we are hopeful that she will recover in time for the procedure.
At this time, Ruth’s greatest needs are prayer and financial support. She is currently on medical leave from her job and is not receiving any income. Her out-of-pocket medical expenses have already exceeded $20,000.
If you are able to support her financially, we would be very grateful.
Thank you all for your love, support, and prayers during this very challenging time.
