Hello, my name is Katelyn and I'm fundraising for my friend Elizabeth Lukasik. Better known as, Liz. Liz is an amazing wife to her husband Luke and mother to their two wonderful children. She currently works for a subsidiary at the SAV airport. Liz’s story begins in January of 2020 when she began not feeling well. A pain in her right hip she couldn’t shake. She visited with her primary care doctor and that spiraled into 11 months of doctors and tests and specialists and scans. No matter doctors did, nothing would help alleviate the pain. Finally in November of 2020 doctors diagnosed Liz with a malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor, a rare form of sarcoma (bone cancer) in her right hip. She was sent two hours away to Jacksonville, Florida to the Mayo clinic as they have doctors who specialize in this condition. She endured 25 rounds of radiation before doctors told her she would need to have an external hemipelvectomy of her right leg. On 4/5/21 doctors removed her right leg from the hip down.
In just TWO MONTHS Liz came back to work on 6-11-21 part time to continue life and provide for her family. Completely bubbly at that! She’s always kept a positive outlook on life. Even with only one leg, she can run circles around others. She amazes me daily. But it wasn’t over. She still has to go to the mayo clinic every 4 months for checkups. This passed month, during her August 2022 checkup, spots were found on her liver and two masses on her back and spine. She went the following week for a biopsy and the results came back as the same cancer from before. Sarcoma.
Liz will begin 5 rounds of radiation on September 14 and then starting chemo. Unfortunately, all of her treatments and tests will have to be done two hours away in Jacksonville, FL at the Mayo Clinic. So on top of all the medical bills, there’s gas, food, and even sometimes hotels to worry about!
Elizabeth isn’t one to ask for help. So I’m asking for her. She is throwing everything she can at this as a 39 year old mother of two! A senior is high school and a freshman in college. She’s also a wonderful wife of 19 years to her husband, Luke, who is also doing all he can as well. Everyone who knows Liz knows how strong of a fighter she is. I want her to grow old with her husband and to watch her children grow up.
All donations will be given to Elizabeth and her family to pay for the strenuous medical bills they are faced to handle.
She has too much to live for to not try!
