Cancer Treatment for Pilipo Solatorio

Donation protected
Kupuna Pilipo Solatorio of Halawa Valley, Molokai needs our help. He has been diagnosed with an early stage of lung cancer and needs surgery immediately to remove the cancer before it spreads. His wife, Dianna, is still recovering from intensive cancer treatment from just last year. We raised $10K for her treatment, but it wasn't enough and now they are facing another round of expensive medical bills.

For decades Kupuna Pilipo has given of his knowledge and aloha (love) to locals and visitors alike on the Hawaiian Island of Molokai. He is the last Native Hawaiian born and raised in Halawa Valley that still lives there today. He is a musician, hula dancer, taro farmer and teacher.  He shared his amazing life story with the world in the award winning documentary "Sons of Halawa". You can watch the film here: https://vimeo.com/145527601/85067217ad

Kupuna Pilipo has so much more to share with the world. He is a living treasure and a direct link to ancient Hawaiian culture. Retired and living off of the land in Halawa Valley, his only income is social security retirement and he has limited Medicare coverage that requires a high co-pay. Paying for his wife's recent cancer treatment and now facing his own cancer treatment expenses has created a financial crisis for his family.

All donated funds will go directly to Kupuna Pilipo and his wife. The funds will be used to pay for surgery to remove a portion of his lung and all associated travel and follow-up treatment. His treatment begins this month.

To everyone he meets, Kupuna Pilipo teaches the concept of "aloha i ke kahi i ke kahi" which mans to love one another regardless of race, religion, or background. He is the embodiment of the true "aloha spirit". Your donations and/or prayers are greatly appreciated.
