Hi, my name is Tora and I'm fundraising for my dog Maiev!
Maiev is my siberian husky and she has been with me for the past 9 years, ever since she was a little puppy. I got her the year I turned 20, so we have essentially grown up together (through my early adulthood at least). She is deeply loved by me and my family, and by my online community I have built over the past six years of being a streamer on the platform Twitch. I genuinely don't know what life would be like without her, she has saved me in so many ways and she is my absolute best friend in the entire world. Maiev LOVES belly rubs, long walks and snacks, especially cheese. I know a lot of people say this about their dogs, but she is genuinely one of the kindest dogs I have ever met. I can assure you, no one is more happy to meet people than Maiev is, whether she has known you her entire life or just met you two seconds ago.
Unfortunately we found a lump on Maiev's chest early this year and she underwent surgery to have it removed, and the tumour sent in to run diagnostics on whether it was a malignant or not. Before the surgery they also did some x-rays where there was a little spot on one of the photos of her lung tissue, but they weren't entirely certain of whether the photo was faulty or not, so they went through with the surgery. I was recommended to come back in 3 months time to take a new x-ray to be absolutely certain it wasn't anything serious, this was at the very end of February. The surgery was a success and they were fairly certain they had removed the entire tumour, which results came back as being malignant.
We then came back at the start of June for some updated x-rays and they unfortunately showed that the little spot was a larger mass on her lung tissue. Maiev was referred to a bigger veterinary hospital to take a CT-scan to figure out whether this could potentially be metastatic cancer. We just got the results yesterday and she does sadly have metastatic cancer, but in addition to that, they cannot entirely outrule that the mass in her lung tissue is not primary cancer either. Due to the spread around her tissue that they can see and the possibility of microscopic ones too, surgery is not an option to treat her cancer. Meaning she is going to need chemotherapy as treatment.
Given that cancer treatment is very expensive and we have already spent all that her insurance covers on her surgery and other complications this year, we are asking for any help with getting my dog the treatment she needs to get a longer life without pain, and general good life quality. I would like to help my dog in any way I can without having to worry about how I am going to be able to pay my bills or putting my family in financial trouble.
The money raised here will go towards covering the rest of the CT-scan that insurance did not cover, the chemotherapy itself (which she will get every 3 weeks 4-6 times), another CT-scan later to make sure the chemotherapy has the desired effect and any other complications or vet costs that may come along the way.
This number is worst case scenario, but any excess money if there were to be any, will be used to cover any other vet bills that may come up throughout or after her treatment.

Maiev only just turned nine years old and I am really not ready to let go of her so long as I can see she is in good health and showing joy of life. Which she is. The silver lining in this trying time is the fact that she still appears to be in good health. She wants to go on walks, is eager to eat and as attention seeking as ever. She does not appear to be in pain and I would like to keep it this way. Which means she needs her treatment.
If you can, please donate to help Maiev. Even the smallest amounts will help her and this treatment will help add more time so she can run, play, eat good food and spend time with her loved ones.
Thank you for reading Maiev's story and please consider sharing so we can reach as many as possible!
