Cancer Treatment For Kelly The Beagle!
Donation protected
Update: Kelly is home and recovering from surgery! She's got lots of pain medication on board and will be in recovery for the next two weeks with restricted exercise. Kelly has already demonstrated a desire to go Beagling out on the property despite having just been released from the hospital. This is a great sign!! We couldn't be more thrilled. Thank you to everyone who has donated and made this possible!!!

Update: Kelly's met check is clear! That means the cancer has not spread to other bodily systems and she is cleared for her regional mammectomy surgery which will take place tomorrow (Thursday 11/16/23).
Update: First and foremost thank you to everyone who has donated!!! We are so thrilled! - Kelly's surgery is now a reality for us and we are beyond grateful. We have consulted with Dr. Meredith Kapler at SAVES. In addition, their oncologist has also weighed in. It's been determined that the best course of treatment is a regional mammectomy and inguinal lymph node removal. We have tentatively scheduled Kelly for this surgery on Thursday 11/16/23. We have adjusted the goal amount to be in line with the current surgical estimate from SAVES. We will continue to keep you updated. Thanks again! and please continue to circulate!
Kelly at SAVES:

Hi All!
We are trying to raise money for Kelly The Beagle. As most of you know, we inherited Kelly when her dad died while she was in our care. Our short quest to find her a new home came to an end when it came to light that she suffers from pretty bad separation anxiety, a condition that is extremely hard to manage for people who work or otherwise spend a good amount of time outside of their home.
Before Kelly was adopted by her late dad, she was used as a breeding dog for about 9 years, then dumped at a shelter with severe mastitis. Since there is nothing that Kelly loves more than "extreme beagling" on our property and our lifestyle allows her to be with us most of the time, we decided to make Kelly a permanent member of our family and give her the life she has always deserved. And even though we were not looking for a 3rd dog, she completes our family and we love her dearly.
This past May, Kelly was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had the breast tumor removed and we were hopeful, since simple lumpectomies are curative in a large percentage of cases, that Kelly was over the last hurdle in her life and could spend many more years extreme beagling and begging for snacks. Unfortunately, the tumor has come back and is in the mammary gland itself. Our vet has recommended a very complicated surgical removal of the entire mammary chain on the affected side, which could extend her life for many years. We have a referral in to a specialty clinic with a board certified surgeon to talk over options, but our vet estimates that even conservative options will cost upwards of $4500, not including adjuvant therapies like chemo or radiation. Sadly, this is just not feasible for us at this time, so we have started a GoFundMe campaign for Kelly.
Please, please, please circulate this! If you or someone you know would like to donate, we would be truly grateful!! We know times are tight these days, so there is absolutely no pressure or expectation.
If we cannot raise enough for her surgery and post operative care we will put the money towards keeping her comfortable. Any remaining balance will be donated to a local shelter and/or you can request a refund.
Thanks for reading!!
