UPDATE 2/14/17
Hey everyone! So these past few months there has been a lot of change to what my dad will be doing on the road to recovery! As mentioned in our previous bio, we mentioned his doctor said he would under-go surgery. About a month ago, we re-visited his doctor and his tumor on his tongue had grown too big to where surgery would have more negative outcomes than chemo/radiation would.
So starting February 28th my dad will start his chemo and radiation treatments. He will have 7 weeks of radiation, Monday through Friday and he will have 3 sessions of chemotherapy total throughout the duration of his 7 weeks of radiation.
Leading up to that day that he starts, we have been ongoing numerous appointments, tests, and other things that need to be done prior to starting this process.
Overall, my dad is well and keeping positive as always. He is still in pain and is struggling to eat, but all we can do at this point is know that recovery is on it's way!
Due to the new year, he finally got health insurance, but wasn't approved for assistance for it, so he is paying a lot of money to maintain that. We'd love and appreciate if you would still donate and share this around social networks and spread the word! Much love, The Oatman's

Hi everyone. My name is Amber Oatman and I have created this GoFundMe account to raise funds for my dad's cancer treatment.

After months of speculation about a large module in his neck and an ever growing lump on his tongue, preventing proper swallowing of food, my dad visited his family doctor, who referred him to LGH for CT scans. The CT scans showed a mass in the right base of the tongue, indicating lympadenopathy; basically indicating a disease of the lymph nodes. To be safe, he was referred for a biopsy. On October 28th, 2016 my dad received his biopsy results, indicating Stage 4 Mestastatic Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

My dad began immediate consultation and preliminary treatment on November 30th, 2016 with Penn Medicine Otorhinolaryngology in Philadelphia, consisting of blood work, Laryngoscopy, and Electrocardiogram. He needed an MRI the day of his visit, but didn't have enough money to go through with it. This visit alone cost my dad $369.24, not including travel costs from Lancaster to Philadelphia. He was scheduled to undergo his first surgery on December 5th, 2016, but the upfront costs prevented him from doing so, as my father is self-employed and as a result does not have health insurance , and will not until January 1st, 2017 if approved.

I am reaching out to friends, family, co-workers, and anyone willing to help. Without the surgery to remove the masses, my dad may die. The surgeons of Penn Medicine Otorhinolaryngology of Philadelphia said my dad must have surgery before the end of the year, otherwise his chance of survival minimizes as the masses will continue to grow and spread.

Since his diagnosis I have noticed my dad becoming more lethargic and having more trouble consuming solid foods. Watching him take pain medication night and day breaks my heart, as he's always been strong and resilient. It is just my dad and I, no one else. My dad is my rock, my provider and my biggest fan, and I cannot imagine my life without him. I would literally be lost if I were to lose my favorite guy.

Please consider making a monetary donation, as my dad is without insurance and the surgery needs to be completed immediately. If you cannot donate, please share this on your facebook, twitter, instagram and so forth. My dad, Keith, and I need all the support we can get.

We greatly appreciate all of the protein shakes, blankets, and heartfelt gifts we've received by friends and co-workers!
