Cancer Treatment Expenses - Kenny Baird

Chief Swǝnnǝset (Ken Baird) has been an active member of our community in Tsawwassen First Nation. Ken is also involved in various consultations at the local government level including government/non-government agencies in Metro Vancouver and beyond to advance opportunities for the TFN community and its members.
Swǝnnǝset continues to be a positive influence for our members and has been a friend to many who live outside of our boundaries. Ken Baird is married to Cindy Hearl and they have a blended family (Cody, Christina, Coral, Riley, Griffin, and Quinton) along with four beautiful grandchildren.
“Kenny B” as he is affectionately known by most, continues to work tirelessly for all Members of our community despite his health challenges which arose over the last few years. While attending to his duties in the community, he has also been addressing his health and with the advice of his health team, he has completed various cancer treatments. As, you can imagine this has been a tiring process, but he has endured and is ready to take on the next treatment plan his doctors have set out for him.
As medicines advance, so do the form of treatments available and, Ken will be moving forward to immunotherapy cancer treatment. Immunotherapy is a process that stimulates one’s immune system to recognize and destroy cancer cells while providing natural, non-invasive, effective therapies that take advantage of the weakened cancer cells. This option also gives Ken’s system a bit of a break from traditional cancer treatment regimes.
Sadly, this type of treatment is not covered by health insurance or any other possible form of assistance. Currently, the treatment plan will last three months at a cost of around 30-40k. Ken’s treatment team has recommended he participate in at least two three-month treatment plans to start.
