Jessica McLaughlin Support Fund
UPDATE 3/14/2021:
My heart is heavy today, Jessica’s journey on earth has come to an end. Words fail to express my deep sorrow. Suffering from cancer is an evil fate. Once again, many thanks for all the support.
December 2019, my niece Jessica McLaughlin, had a laparotomy to remove a potato size tumor from her bladder which turned out to be an extremely rare aggressive cancer. Sarcomotoid Carcinoma was the initial diagnosis, and that is what they treated her for. She went through 6 months of chemotherapy just to find out it was not successful. Now there is another mass growing on her liver, causing other health issues which has recently caused her to be in and out of the hospital. The oncologist states it is Peritonial Carcinoma, another rare cancer.
The family is raising money for further evaluation at the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center in Phoenix, Arizona since she has a rare form of cancer. It is beneficial to get a second opinion from a cancer research hospital to verify the findings and treatment. Plus we don't want to loose precious time. Unfortunately, they don't accept her insurance. A $5,000 deposit is required before she can get a consultation. Her choices are very limited since these types of cancer are rare and there is not a lot of resources out there. Since she lives in Lake Havasu City, AZ so she would need to travel to Phoenix, AZ. The cost of treatment and expenses can add up quickly.
Our family refuses to give up, therefore we need all your help. Collecting $5,000 is a start to get her foot in the door and I am praying they can help her get through this. The Mayo Clinic Cancer Center is designated by the National Cancer Institute as a comprehensive cancer center. This means the clinic's renowned physicians, researchers and scientists carry out team-based, patient-centered research to develop the latest technologies and treatments to address unmet patient needs. As a result, people who come to the clinic for cancer care have access to hundreds of clinical trials in all phases. If she gets accepted at the Mayo Clinic into a study then they will pay for everything else. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. If financial help can’t be given, continue to keep Jessica in your thoughts and prayers, also please share. Let’s help her beat cancer!
