Cancer survivor, open heart surgrey

I'm making this for my Dad who is 68 years old, who has rasied 5 kids and several grandkids now that we are all grown he was looking forward to enjoying being retired and enjoying life with my mom that came to a hault in November 2013 my dad got a bad cold, or so we thought, after many appointments and a major surgery at the UW  we learned he had stage 4 Lymphoma (Cancer).
He underwent 6 months of chemo treatments, had to be in hostpital with a serious infection (s epsis) that he could have died from, but he made it and in currently in remission. He is a fighter, he has a great love for his 5 kids, all of his grandchildren and my Mom who hes spent the last 37 years with.
A few months ago my dad hurt his shoulder and waited for it to get better, but it didnt so my mom took him to the doctor who gave him a steriod injection but wasnt convienced that would work, after 2 weeks he went back and they decided he needed shoulder surgery. He then needed a preop by his PCP. At the preop the doctor asked, did you know you had a heart murmur, my dad and mom didnt know about it. The doctor said you need an echo cardiogram.
Then the call came in Mr. Richards you have severe arotic stenosis and need open heart surgery.  Not knowing what to do he had the doctor call my mom who immediataly started making calls and appointments, This was a huge shock to our whole family.

So the journey begins, he has been seen by a cardiac surgeon who has ordered alot of things prior to his 01/27/17 open heart surgery.

He had his heart cath on 01/12/17 that has shown he will not need bypass which awesome, now he will need a PETCT  01/16/17 to make sure there is no active cancer, some breathing testing on 01/17/17 because he has COPD, then a family preop visit, and labs 01/24/17.  Then the heart surgery to replace the valve on 01/27/17.
He will spend about a week in the hospital then go home as long as all goes well. Without the surgery the doctor said he had about 2 years to live but also said there is no way to really know since it went from mild to severe in 2 years, with the surgery the valve will last 10-15 years.

Once at home my mom will be his care giver. Currently she only has about 3 paid days coming, those will more than likely  be consumed by the pre surgery appointments. Her work offers short term disability (FMLA)  but doesnt pay her any wages because she isnt the patient, therefore she will go unpaid and will need to pay them monthly for her insurance and other deductions while at home caring for my dad.

I really don't want my parents to have to stress or worry about financial issues and how to pay their bills, and get by with up to 3 months of my mom bringing in no income when they're already going through such a hard and emotional time. Thank you for any help you can offer for our family. If you can not help financially, I know how much my dad would love to get even just a message of well wishes, and prayers- feel free to leave him a note on here or private message me on facebook and I will read them to him, Thank you all so much, Lacey Roice.
