Cancer, surgery and weddings oh my!

Hello everyone, we are the Peñas. My name is Mary and my husband’s name is Jose, we have 3 boys and have been married for 20 years. We are typically not ones to ask for help but we are now in a situation where if we don’t we will loose all of our hard work. The short version is we have always dreamt of doing a vow renewal since our wedding was so small just 6 people but year after year things would come up and it just never happened.

Then my mother passed very suddenly and it made me/us realize we didn’t want to wait another day to make this dream a reality. Well my husband has always worked multiple jobs to support either his mother and sibling back home or our family once we were married and so this was my turn. I told my husband I was going to get a second job to pay for the vow renewal so it could be everything we wanted and more.

So I did and I have been working both jobs working up to 100 hours a week, seven days for just about a year paying for things little by little watching this dream come to life. Now I already know what you are thinking, 100 hours girl! But i wanted it to be so special and it will be or at least it was going to be.

Last Tuesday, September 10, 2024 I was diagnosed with a large tumor on my left ovary and with endometrial cancer. I will be having surgery on the 30th of September and will be out of work for about a month.

This is where all of you lovely kind souls come into play. I only owe the venue one more payment but with me not being able to work at either job and having to pay for all of our regular bills and insurance and medical bills I’m worried we won’t be able to cover everything.

The problem lies with the part of the contract that states if I miss any payment or if I’m late then I Forfeit everything!! So all the money I have paid over this last year just gone, my hopes and dreams along with it.

I want everyone to know I’m not just giving up I’m selling what ever personal belongings I think I can get money for and I’m saving whatever I can but if you feel so inclined as to help us out even if it’s just $1 it would mean the absolute world to us and if that is too much that’s ok we take happy thoughts, good vibes and prayers as well.
