Cancer Sucks - Support Rachael in her fight

Hi, my name is Nicole LaBonte Vitrano. Together with Jennifer Bryant Campbell, Tina Roberts Stephens, and Derran Eaddy, we are raising funds to help Rachael Peckham as she battles cancer. Rachael is our Zeta Tau Alpha sister, and we all met in 1992 at Eastern New Mexico University. Rachael is currently an Assistant Principal in Las Vegas. Rachael was diagnosed in December 2021 with stage 4 colon cancer. She underwent surgery in January 2022 to remove a tumor and had a lengthy stay in the hospital. She is currently doing 12 rounds of chemotherapy - one every other week to shrink the tumors in her liver. Chemo for Rachael begins at the hospital's cancer center. After spending the day there, she brings the chemo home for another 48 hours. She then returns to the hospital to have the pump disconnected. Rachael needs help during her chemo weeks as the side effects make daily living tasks difficult. On non-chemo weeks Rachael does her best to make it into school. Work is a welcome distraction from cancer, as helping kids is her true passion and calling.

I've requested an amount that will hopefully get her through this first round of chemotherapy scheduled to be completed in August. Funds raised will be used for the following:

1. Pay outstanding hospital bills.

2. Pay for a genetic test used to tailor her chemotherapy that insurance has denied.

3. Pay for continued copays for her treatment: chemotherapy, immunotherapy, nutritional and other therapies.

4. Help offset her 50% cut in income, which will help her cover rent, utilities, groceries, etc.

5. Pay for supportive care she needs or may need during chemotherapy.

Any funds collected that Rachael does not need will be donated to the American Cancer Association. I appreciate your consideration.
