Cancer Sucks ... Let's Send Bob to the Beach
Donation protected
UPDATE: Thank you all for your contributions. We are all sorry and sad that our dream for Bob didn't come true. With this change, feel free and comfortable to reconsider your donation and, at your discretion, request a refund through GoFundMe. Our intent is to apply the funds raised toward a celebration of life for Bob with some of the funds to be used to cover expenses that were incurred for the trip that weren't refundable. Any additional remaining funds will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Foundation in Bob's name. A Celebration of Life for Bob is planned for Friday, March 6, 2020, from 1-3 p.m. at The Depot Clubhouse (at Village of Five Parks), 13810 W. 85th Drive, Arvada, CO 80005. Please park in the Depot parking lot to the west of the building by the pool and/or in public spaces on the surrounding residential streets. (Parking lots to the north and east are for businesses only and not for events.) See you there!
Original Post: As most of you know, Bob Sherman was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia almost a year ago. He has been fighting a tough battle that has kept him captive at home and in the hospital for many rounds of intense chemo in hopes of qualifying for a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, the last round of chemo was cut short as it irreparably damaged Bob's kidneys and heart. He was released from the hospital and is no longer eligible for the lifesaving bone marrow transplant.
Hospitals Suck
If you know Bob, you know he was very outgoing and spent much of his time outside, playing tennis, building and remodeling things, woodworking, skiing, fly fishing, hiking, walking his dog, going to Avalanche and Rockies games, cheering for friends' kids at their sporting events, going to concerts, bowling, hanging out with his cat - Joe Sakic, making gourmet pizzas in his pizza oven and traveling with friends and family. His perseverance is beyond amazing. Bob has maintained a positive attitude and an unwavering will to fight the fight, but the cancer battle has kept him from doing all of the things he loves.
Help Send Bob to His Happy Place
The goal of this fundraiser is to raise enough money to send Bob on a super special trip to Key West for some hot fun in the sun with warm and sandy beaches and some bone fishing in the flats!
Any donation you can make to help get Bob to his “happy place” will be appreciated! This trip will have a huge impact on Bob’s well-being, and we need to make it happen as soon as possible.
Hugs for Bob
Bob always had time to share a hug and a smile, to help someone with a project, and to lend his MacGyuver skills, so please help us hug Bob back by making this trip possible! Any donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated.
In the meantime, keep your texts, emails, calls and visits going. Let’s show Bob what friends and family are all about.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity!
Love,
Team Sherm
