As many of you may know, my Mom's cancer has returned in her bones. She has been on a medication regiment, however after her last scan it showed further progression in her spine, pelvis, ribs, and knee. She has since started a new medication of Piqray, but the side effects of the medication has given her high blood sugar levels, which requires yet another medication of Metformin to control. She is also waiting to hear back from Duke to see when they can get her in to try some clinical trials. Since finding out the cancer was back, she had to quit her job as a bus driver for Cabell County Schools, because the insurance refused to pay for her meds. She has been approved for disability, however there is a 5 month grace period and she will not start receiving funds from disability until after October. She has bills and medical expenses piling up, with no stable income coming in. She spends her free time delivering food for Grubhub trying to make ends meet. However, she is constantly in pain from her bones hurting and constantly tired as the cancer is wearing her down.
