Those that know Claire, know she is one of the most kind, loving, and generous people on Earth. Her warm soul lights up a room and her humor will keep you laughing! She is just a GOOD human who deserves all the best things this world has to offer and even in the face of devastation, she can find the silver lining, always. 16 months ago, Claire was faced with the unimaginable. At the age of 31, she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. She started her first round of moderate chemo in April of 2020. After 6 months, she was given the news that she was in remission with just a small residual spot on her lungs, but her oncologist was confident she was in remission. Just 4 short months later, a follow up PET scan and biopsy revealed the cancer was growing back, and would require a very aggressive treatment plan requiring chemo that would need to be inpatient at the cancer center, and would likely leave her sterile. Because of Covid restrictions, Zack was not allowed to be by her side during her first weeks. After the first couple weeks of this new plan, she had to meet with the transplant team to discuss the next step, which was harvesting her own stem cells that they would transplant back into her after what would be considered a lethal dose of chemo to keep her alive. Because this is such a serious situation with great risks, after the 6 days of this process she is required to stay in Seattle for 30 days where she can be close to the cancer center in case there is an emergency. Zack has been there with her staying in a hotel. With his back and forth to Seattle, they had to find care for Zelda. Claire and Zack's life has been flipped upside down. The burdens that they are carrying is something that no one should have to face. Claire has been out of work now since Feb. 2020, and Zack for the last 6 months to be a caregiver for Claire.
