Cancer Strikes Again (x3): Malignant Images on FB

Hi my name is Carlos M. Jaramillo. I have been Michael TeVault's best friend since 2010. If you are a friend of Michael, or the family of Michael and know and love Michael, then you understand what wonderful person he is. To know Michael is to love Michael. I can definitely say this because he is far more than a friend to me. He stepped-up in the biggest way and has been my personal health caregiver after I was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma in Oct. of 2018. From the very beginning until today he has helped me in every way that I have possibly needed. From Oct. of 2018 to this very day!!! I have truly learned through Michael what it means to help through love and give care with selfless intentions. Michael is my angel here on earth. Without him I would not be alive today.

Well now I will have the opportunity to show Michael how much his love and care truly meant/means to me. Our Michael is now in need of help and care from the people that love him. On Oct. 18 2023, while being treated for an abscess on his head, it was determined that his abscess is actually a cancerous tumor. So this discovery led him to see an oncologist by Nov. 14 2013 and then an eventual P.E.T. scan. His scan has revealed that the tumor on his head/scalp is squamous cell carcinoma. This same scan also revealed that Michael has primary cancer in his left lung (a node that has metastasized) and the cancer has also spread to his pelvic region.

He is living everyday in bad shape with a lot of pain. Even with pain management. The person that genuinely helped me hand-over-foot, day or night, for so long, has lost that sparkle in his eyes. He is scheduled for surgery this Thursday 12/21 to have the tumor removed from his head/scalp. It will be a few hours of surgery where the surgeon will remove a large part of his scalp on the left side and skin graft from his shoulder. In addition, during this same surgery they will remove the lymph nodes on both sides of his neck and from under his clavicle bone on the left side. This is major surgery and I am very scared for my dearest friend. After this surgery he will have a short time of healing and is then going to have to begin chemotherapy and radiation therapy. He has mentioned to me that he is going through this the same way his mom Joan did. Facing the challenges of chemo and radiation therapy while healing from a surgery. He wears this similarity like a badge of honor. I did not know Mrs. TeVault, but Mike always says she was his best friend and says she is with him everyday. Just knowing Mike is now that she must have been a great person. Look at the person she made and raised!!! You guys know Mike. He’s strong and resilient. He was his parents caregiver for many years and my caregiver for many years. That requires great personal compassion, strength and love. Trust me!! I have been blessed to be the recipient

Logically, my recovery journey still continues but Mike now has had to stop helping me because of this cancer diagnosis.

***EVERYONE reading this, GO TO THE DOCTOR! Mike just had what seemed like a perpetual blemish, which he nicked a few times shaving his head. Well, after one time too many that “blemish” grew considerably large.

Everything's happening so quickly and so much needs to be done, it’s affecting his ability to work. Which, actually, really hasn't been much at all. Because of taking care of me his ability to work his sales, with no base salary! that is 100% commissions, has greatly diminished. I don’t have to explain how negatively these circumstances have impacted his income and how quickly he has lost his ability to earn money.

He always says we have to be grateful for what we get and what we have. But he’s not the one that will be left without having ‘Michael TeVault, friend extraordinaire’. We will!! A huge challenge is that the coverage he is provided doesn’t cover all his medical needs (maybe about 45%). What he qualifies for is not traditional health insurance. He is responsible for the rest of own health care. This is the difficult place he is now,
