A Mother’s Battle: Help Me Fight Colorectal Cancer
Hello, I’m Dagny, a 53-year-old mother of two wonderful adult children with autism. Today, I’m writing to you not just as a mother, but as a woman who is facing a life-altering challenge: I’ve been diagnosed with stage 2a colorectal cancer.
In some ways, cancer came out of nowhere. But in other ways, it feels like my life has been a series of storms that I’ve weathered with love, strength, and a lot of hope. From raising two children on the autism spectrum to managing the day-to-day struggles that come with it, I’ve always kept going—no matter what. Now, I’m asking for your help, because the fight I’m facing is bigger than anything I’ve ever had to tackle.
What I’m Facing
When I received my cancer diagnosis, it felt like my world turned upside down. The doctors say it’s treatable, but the road ahead is long, and the treatment is going to be difficult. I’m starting chemotherapy, and surgery may be on the horizon, but there are so many unknowns. All I know for sure is that I need to focus on my health—and that’s where I need your support.
I’m not just fighting cancer. I’m also a mother to two children with autism who require constant care and support. I am their primary caregiver, making sure they’re comfortable, safe, and happy. Right now, I’m finding it difficult to juggle everything—my own health needs, the emotional toll of my diagnosis, and my responsibilities as their mother.
Why I Need Your Help
In addition to my medical expenses—chemotherapy, surgery, doctor visits, medications—there are everyday costs I just can’t keep up with right now. I can’t work while undergoing treatment, and with the added expenses of caregiving for my children, things are getting tight.
I’m reaching out to you, my community, for help. I need assistance to cover:
*Medical bills: Treatments, surgeries, scans, and medications.
* Care for my children: Since I’m unable to care for them as I normally would, I need support to make sure they continue to have everything they need.
* Everyday expenses: Bills, food, transportation to appointments—these things are piling up quickly.
How You Can Make a Difference
If you’re able to contribute, no amount is too small. Your support will help ease the financial burden, allowing me to focus on fighting this cancer and making sure my children continue to get the care they need. I know times are tough for many people, and I would be grateful for anything you can give.
Please also consider sharing this campaign with others. The more people who hear our story, the more likely we are to reach our goal.
This is hard for me to ask, but I know I can’t do it alone. I’ve always been strong for my family, but right now, I need my community to be strong for me. I believe with all my heart that I can overcome this cancer, and with your help, I’ll be able to do it while still being the mother my children need.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my story, for your kindness, and for any support you can offer. It means the world to me.
With gratitude and love,
Dagny
