Hello family and friends.
This would not be our normal practice but in these circumstances, we come to you with unfortunate facts.
At the beginning of April,
Chad was diagnosed with cancer.
It is an unusual aggressive basal cell carcinoma that has taken over his left ear, and this extends deep into the ear canal.
We have had dermatology & ENT biopsies/consults which has led us to
UT Southwestern head and neck oncology.
They are not completely ruling out squamous cell either but have confirmed that it is not in bone, cartilage or
lymph node, THANK God!
With that being said, the oncology surgeon wanted to practically take his whole ear, possibly eardrum with the risk of facial paralysis, telling me that his smile would never be the same again!
We didn’t like those odds, and we also consulted with a radiation oncologist and have decided to go that route.
He has started treatment as of 5/20/25.
This will be 5 days a week times 7 weeks.
If you know Chad, you know he is a very hard worker and is usually scaling roofs with cat like reflexes and he has lost a lot of that with some of the internal damage making it hard for him to work, along with a daily drive to Dallas UT Southwestern.
This is more or less a way to explain
what we are dealing with when
you see our posts, while accepting thoughts and prayers in a form that is beneficial to the process.
The gratitude will forever remain
and you can say you helped save his
handsome gracious smile!
